there's a word for that

(an educational blog wherein i admire the specificity of certain words)

dewclaw/duclaw -- not just a chain restaurant

that's a dewclaw. i feel like i should've known this but i didn't.

sanpaku -- refers to people who have eyes with the whites showing around three "sides" of the iris (kwiki). viewed as rare and inauspicious. see jfk, marilyn monroe, and that one girl from the hills.

callipygian -- having well-shaped buttocks

learn me some more?

i think it's when you look like that regularly, without turning your head a certain way... like your eyes just float up like that. i would like eyes that show the white above the iris instead of at the bottom. that wouldn't be off-putting.

Mezzanine - a low story between two other stories of greater height in a building, esp. when the low story and the one beneath it form part of one composition.

I didn't know this word when I started working and my boss uses it. I acted like I knew what she was saying and waited until someone else used the word near the mezzanine so I'd know what it was without feeling stupid.

I think a lot of professional dog breeders/showers remove the dew claw from dogs? I think that's cruel. You should leave them as a neat little vestige of evolution.
