Hey!
So I'm doing an illustration project for a friend that involves basically, international candies (if I don't change the idea at the last minute like I usually do). I already know some of the hallmark chinese, japanese, american, and russian/ukrainian candies, but I'm completely lacking in knowledge of candy popular anywhere else. (I have a vague notion that tamarind candy is perhaps popular in mexico and violet crumble in australia...but that's about it) What's popular there (that isn't really popular here in the U.S.)? Thanks!! Anything helps =) I promise to post the illustration when I'm done with it!
I turn to you, threadless community, because I trust your awesome aesthetic taste and helpfulness. I'm sorry I haven't been involved in blogs lately but I really need your help!
So after the Housing Day t-shirts I designed were a success, my dorm leadership committee asked me if I could make a shirt for our upcoming, infamous, annual foam party. The theme is "Global Foaming". It's due tomorrow and this is what I have ![]() I haven't added the foam to anything yet, and haven't finished with coloring and background and the arrow is wonky (needs touching up I know) but can anyone tell who the man is? and I keep feeling like the colors are off? I'm kinda freaking out because I'm afraid this isn't going to work ;_; any suggestions?? ------------------------------------------- 4-12-08 1:10AM whew ok so after a stressful day I finally finished the design, and I ended up going with the second one (Al Gore is not very recognizable anyway) ![]() (hm colors are a bit off but that's it basically) Yay now...onto...my...OTHER...projects *sigh*
Not on Threadless unfortunately...but for the pride and glory of my House!
At my college we have a House (basically, dorm) system where the freshmen live in their own dorms and during Housing Day they are put into different Houses, which have their own dining halls and student government and whatnot. I live in Mather House, the newest dorm, built in the 70's when people seemed to really be into Brutalist concrete architecture, which is a little hard (initially) to get pride for when all the other Houses have this Georgian/colonial look to them. Someone came up with this awesome idea of incorporating Mather House's blocky architecture into a Transformer and I redrew and redesigned it. The building it is crushing is Kirkland House, our rival House. I'm still up, too excited about greeting the freshmen and seeing the shirt for the first time to sleep =) Just wanted to share this, in my insomniac state.
So I've been off Threadless for a while, finishing up the design for the first ever issue of an undergrad research journal. (Exhausting!!)
And now, I'm realizing, I need money. I'm in a super expensive college, so I don't feel like I should be asking my parents for *more* money, and I don't have a job, but I do have an insatiable urge to draw, paint, etc. which I do every free moment I have. I don't go to a very visual-artsy school, and always I'm passing by these full-color, shiny gloss posters for huge annual events that were obviously *supposed* to look good but came out laden with clip art and looking pretty bad. So I was thinking, why not be a commissioned illustrator/designer for clubs? I'm not sure how this would work...I was thinking about $10-20 for a poster/shirt design? More for bigger things? Should I build up a better portfolio first? Is this even LEGAL??? (All of this, assuming anyone would want me as a designer. Technically I'm a science concentrator after all.) Anyone have thoughts on this? Experiences you can share with me? When it comes to art, for the most part I'm all alone with figuring out what to do, so I'd really appreciate any and all advice you have for me!! May put up illustrations for the journal once it comes out... thanks! ![]() (btw thanks iDan again for the modeling. perhaps the only really sweet element in there) Lately...I dunno. Maybe I'm not putting enough time into this? Or maybe I obsess about details too much? (Which, by the way, would bring me back to the problems I had with elementary school projects) I really have to thank igo2cario for all his support and helpful advice...I would've completely given up on my designs for ever and ever if not for him (and the powers of my procrastination skills). Even though I probably *should* have simply left my designs unfinished...Thanks =) ![]() ![]() This seriously has to be the best instant noodle dish I have EVER tasted. I'm actually not too sure what the tofu/fish rectangle thing in it was, but it was good. It was very good. Any other instant noodle/food gourmands out there?
I'd like to know honestly what people think of my designs. I posted three in succession and they each have less than 1 days (Pink is OK! has less than 2) to score. So please vote on them if you haven't already, but most importantly I'd like to know what people think of my style.
![]() ![]() ![]() Should I clean up my style more? Spend more time on them? Or should I go for a more hand-drawn look? It'll be a while until I can finally draw designs again, so I'd like to collect feedback as time goes on. Thanks everyone for their support so far!
THANKS!!!...but who are you?
Ok so was there ever a geek coat of arms design? I know there's already a coat of arms (literally) t-shirt, but I have this very nice concept of a geekdom coat of arms and I'd like to make sure it doesn't seem like I'm copying anyone.
Anyway it's extremely detailed and I'd rather not describe anything right now, but basically I'm trying to bring together various realms of geekdom under one herald.
So I have an idea right now that I'm slowly (ok not that slowly) fleshing out on the computer right now during my long periods of procrastination. And it seems like the best thing would be to do a wrap-around design, but I'm not sure if Threadless will accept designs that are printed over side seams.
I've heard people have gotten designs rejected because of it. Yet I'm pretty sure I've seen winning designs that do that...can anyone clear up the confusion for me? Thanks! ps. I noticed the lack of purple tees so I'm working with purple color schemes right now (though other colors work too). Check back for a critique coming soon! I mean, if that side seam thing works out. |

I haven't submitted any photos. I guess I don't want free money.
My designsAll about me
I adore sea hares. I love windy days, sunflowers, and ketchup. I have trouble writing bios about myself.
In short, a total weirdo. That's really about it. |
