The style is really similar to Susie Ghahremani's...
e.g. http://www.boygirlparty.com/illustration/17.html |
Look at the way the feathers are drawn, the wavy scallops for the wings, the general shape... it's a knock-off of boygirlparty's owls (and it's not nearly as good).

of course the linework on the shirt is cleaner - there's going to be a difference between a vector and a painting on wood. it is quite obvious that her style has been "borrowed" here.
there are several examples posted as links by *boygirlparty* herself.
and yet, not one is of the owl in question... |
i've got to agree with marie...something doesn't need to be an exact copy to be considered a rip off, which i think this shirt clearly is.

The designer ought to stick with his/her origami animals (which are charming) for submissions and avoid poor imitations of other artists' styles.

agave: maybe if you posted a link to other works you've done in this style over the years, this debate can be put to rest. The styles, not the image itself, are rather similar.

^ I agree too.
Boygirlparty has a lot of examples of her style, not just online but on merchandise and paintings in homes and galleries. Would be good to see agave's examples. |
