I'm going to have to agree with the general consensus -- this design would work much better as a "cool" design, rather than the "funny" design you were attempting to steer it towards. Also, maybe a slightly off-center placement?

Yeah, I get the joke, and it IS really a funny and cute idea, but the art is so phenomenal that it'd be even greater just as itself without the football.
