ginetteginette on Jul 30 '08 i scored this already but then i came back and noticed the type at the bottom, i didn't even notice the text before, and it made me realize that i also didn't notice this was for the democracy loves contest.
i really do love the image, but i feel like the text is forcing a concept that just isn't there. i wish the image did a little more of the talking rather than having to rely on a written message. i still really like the texture of the lines and the shapes though. thinking about trying to omit text next time might be something to consider though? i also wish this was tons bigger. |

I know that this contest is regarding the US 2008 Election but I think a shirt from threadless should not be specific to one demographic of the population... it's a nice idea but it's an American Flag... I'm not sure that the non-US members would be as interested in this.

I like the concept of this, but the type is too small, maybe if the type was almost root like and bigger so that you can see it.....

I'm with ginette. I totally didn't see the flag. If the image was bigger I don't think not seeing the flag would be as much of a problem (I think this would be an awesome full-front print). and even if you just flared the words out a little on the bottom it would really help seeing them. or maybe making the words just a shade or two darker than the rest of the stem.

I didn't see the flag, either, and the text resultingly doesn't make sense. The picture speaks "growth" and maybe prosperity to me, but that's capitalism, not democracy... not sure flowers and voting quite go together (thinking hippies, anti-government hippies in particular) ... otherwise, the swirlies are cute, just needs to be about 2.5 times the size it is on the shirt.

WOW, thanks for all the feedback! Sounds like I should have gone through the critique process first before submitting the design. There's always the pull of instant gratification though and I'm learning a lot from everyone's posts. The whole thing about enlarging it though, I always want to buy shirts where the graphic is smaller, played with it much larger and growing from the bottom but thought it was too much...

yea i really like the design. i didn't notice the flag either til i read the comments. place the design a little better so its not just floating. i don't like the text at the bottom of the flowers. overall great colors- pretty!

I think Big Boo's idea about making the type into roots would really make it look cool.

Maybe you could have made the sentence start from top to bottom, and the words from left to right.
Like So Then the flowers could grow out from the side. Odd placements get everyone all moist on here so maybe a bottom right placing on the shirt? Or even a wrap around would be neat. |
