I recently (today actually) saw a posting put up by our friend Tom Burns on the T-shirt Island Blog http://tshirtisland.blogspot.com/2007/02/communist-party-part-2-t-shirt-by-quirk.html
stating that I ripped this design concept from him. It's interesting to see that Mr. Burns submission was placed on Threadless.com back in December of 2005. I have files to document that my design was created in May 2005. Sure Tom has all the notice for his design, but only because his shirt was printed on Threadless. I stood back and decided to write this because it ticks me off that a small boutique company like mine gets slandered so easily due to the notice that his shirt gets. Sure it is the more recognizable design about the communist PARTY, but mine preceded his in execution. The "Communist Party" idea is a very old idea, and I never claimed to be the original designer for the idea, but just a designer that made it available before Tom Burns. I received a so so apology from Tom Burns today, and a much healthier one from Threadless today. Mr. Burns still seems to be in denial that he is not the originator of the Communist "Party" idea. Anyways, for all of you designers out there, Google isn't the answer for all of your researching needs. If you are looking to see if your idea is out there, you should do your real homework. Thank you Threadless for making Tom Burns aware of his rush to judgment, maybe that will lower arrogance.

I have designs that I would rather keep for my site. Some people would rather hold on to some designs. I felt that my Communist Party design was worth it rather than selling my rights off to Threadless. I'm sure you now feel that way with your Communist Party design. Doubt worry, everyone still perceives YOUR Communist Party tee as being the original. And by the way, my last submission is NOT available for sale on my site currently. If you took the time to do your research (on this matter, and the Communist Party matter), you would see that it says my Why? MCA design is "Coming Soon". It was a design I was willing to part with if it were picked for submission, I never felt that way for the Communist Party design. I have plenty of designs that are on my site that have never been submitted to Threadless. Do you submit all of YOUR designs to Threadless? And if you wish to live a happy life, get over it, no one stole your design or idea.
