btw the boxiness would work better on a dark but thatd throw your colours out.

i like the illustration... maybe roughen up the edges of the box/border so its not so boxy.
jaimez
   jaimez on May 09 '06
Right now I'm taking some already composed print designs and playing with them for t-shirts- so the boxiness was inherent in the original design. When I have a chance to design new stuff, I'll be composing more for the shirt specifically. As a result, most of my submissions will not end up as boxes... I don't mind the boxes, but totally get why others would :)

beautiful style. put it on a black tee (or same color tee as the tees and the girls darks)

Yes if the shirt was the same colour as the foreground trees, you'd lose some of the boxiness. $5

yeah- I bet it would look great on black, 'cause then you'd notice the shapes of the negative space more, & the trees in the background.

very nice.

Don't we have enough children/animals in the woods shirts? No boxiness. Overused and too well-known situation.

I like the boxiness and the design, but the wolf sort of looks like a liard man.

Love the art but the boxiness is painful.4 but 5$ if you do something with the boxiness.

I agree, it's amazing, I really like it, but the 'boxiness' of it is stopping me from giving it a high rating.

I ADORE this design (Little Red Riding Hood is a favorite tale of mine). But if you could find a way of getting rid of that boxy feel I'd give it a $500. lol.

Excellent drawing and i could see them printing it if you redesigned the frame to make it look more cohesive, much like the tree-framed designs of late.

nice illustration, i don't even mind the box/frame on this one

there's been sort of a glut of fairytale subs recently though

have to agree with the anti-box comments. but its a great design apart from that.
jpiatt
   jpiatt on May 10 '06
way to make a splash with your first few subs!!! I really like your style.

The box on this one's not my favorite. But your illustrations are great.

You'll get printed soon if you keep submissions this high quality coming in.

4, 5 if it didn't have such hard edges on the boxed in look....

I think it's a great drawing but the content has been done to death. Keep submitting though.

the box is the problem, but very well!

JoeySparks
JoeySparks on May 10 '06
I'm starting to like the box the more I look at it...it gives me the sense of being in the situation while being unable to help LRRH...adds that sense of helplessness, which is hard to accomplish on a shirt...definitely not on ash shirt though...
Arivel
Arivel on May 10 '06
I dont mind the boxiness, it alludes to a page in a book, or just an illustration from a book. I love the way you draw trees.
popcultureicon
popcultureicon on May 10 '06
things that are getting tired:

- silhouetted children in forests with some creature

-- silhouetted animals, bugs, clouds, trees, and hearts

--- silhouetted skylines

- animals falling in love(?) with inanimate objects

very nice illustration! you did a good job of showing the characters' personalities through their expressions.

i'm not a huge fan of the harsh borders of the design, though.
jasonfifi
jasonfifi on May 11 '06
it's super pretty, but i do hate the harsh border. maybe on a black shirt, the foreground trees would kinda fade into the shirt and fix that problem, but on white it looks pretty bad.
buttterflykissez
buttterflykissez on May 11 '06
It's beautiful. Agree on not liking the harsh border, and having it against a black t shirt. i would buy it.

Awesome! I got a postcard of this from gallerynucleus.com, like only a couple of weeks ago. I got the set for a friend also and this was our favorite! =)

Hmm.. tshirt comments instead of geeking out about awesomeness... well I believe that your "Homeless" submission is more likely to get printed on threadless (and I'll be buying it!), but if it doesn't don't give up! And do more prints at nucleus so I can buy more of your stuff.. or I guess you'll have stuff on your site soon.. lol.

I usually don't like boxiness in designs (as someone mentioned before), but this is an exception. Great art style and great design.

lucyfarfort on May 11 '06
As above i also like the boxed effect on this for some reason it makes it look cinematic . V nice
mezo
   mezo on May 11 '06
That certainly is beautiful...try to work a design where the corners of your art fade out, rather than block off. Honestly, the harsh straight lines of the box take attention away from lovely delicateness of your linework.

lose the box and blend the trees. but without any of that swirly crap that seems to be all over threadless these days, and it'd be a $5 for me.

Not so much like a traditional threadless just because you didnt utilized the colors of the shirt as an element. It really reminds me of the shirt dangers in the woods, one of my favorite tt's.
